Lafcadio - The Lion, The Shot Back by Shel Silverstein

Published in 1963, Shel Silverstein's "Lafcadio: The Lion, who shot back," is the story of a young lion that the machinations of the challenges of society, even if unintentionally, when he wants to act in accordance with the flow of the natural world. This is, of course, other lions and Hunter frowned. As a subplot of this story is about war and peace, it is interesting that the classic Silverstein for the first time during the outbreak of the Vietnam War will be published. If this is simpleChance is not known.

The Story of Lafcadio begins when a group of hunters to capture shots pride of African countries. If all the lions to disperse quickly in the immediate vicinity, Lafcadio, a young lion (the name Uncle Shelby or Shel Silverstein ultimately gives him) starts to question why it is that he goes away from these so-called "hunters", although has my impending doom. Then, after running all the lions for their lives, remains Lafcadio, the only way that can takea look at one of the hunters, as curious to see what appeared to the hunter. Well, if not the hunters and come face to face, the hunter makes it clear to him: "I kill you." Lafcadio responds with "But I give up, just to prove it, he lifts his paws in the air. What follows is a discussion between the two, in which hunters are the young lions, despite the fact that Lafcadio ready to shoot the hunter does not protest against the publication. After all these leaks andLafcadio when asked why he insists that hunters still shooting, the hunter says simply: "Because I []."

Well, rest assured, Lafcadio be shot by a hunter, because in his infinite wisdom, the hunter forgets his gun, before inviting his safari. In response to this, says Lafcadio, the hunter, "you eat", and if the hunter asked why, he says, "because I am." And of course it does. What follows is that Lafcadio takes' funStick "for the gun (which belonged to hunters) and begins to practice again and again to become a world-class sniper. Goes to the best in the world when a man discovers HIM circus and leads him to discover the jungle fame and wealth. Much later on, and by the end of history, Lafcadio he is tired of living the life of a successful world-class sniper and so the proposal of the circus man, he returns the pride of country and combinedwith his pride, only to discover that he is neither man nor lion, because he is not suitable for both lifestyle.

One of the most important lessons in the late Shel Silverstein shows in this history is that we all have choices in life. As the story in which Lafcadio takes the first hunter, bent over him to kill was, in fact, the Hunter would have the choice to kill one or not to kill, plain and simple as Lafcadio choice is to perform and / or had to get untilAdversity. An argument could be sure who was actually the curiosity and courage, that Lafcadio not kept racing, but in any case, it was a choice. While Lafcadio offered peace and harmony, the hunter, whose only passion was to kill, the hunter had no real reason to kill Lafcadio vital, as the young lion, was friendly and polite in his offer of a peace made no danger.

This reasoning leads me to believe that Silverstein, in fact, was a pacifist and do not believe in huntingsport. This message speaks volumes about the reasons of our race, creating wars and kill innocent lives just for the sake of killing, as there is no real value or purpose in mind and nature. Perhaps each of us an important lesson to learn from Lafcadio after all, whose curiosity changed the scope of the kill without purpose.

Thanks for reading.
